Peer Outdoor Education for Mental Health (POEM) is a peer support specialist training program that will take place at Jubilee Healing Farm during the 2024-2025 academic year for community college, undergraduate or graduate students who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Person of Color), have lived experience of mental illness or substance abuse, and have a passion for healing others. Individuals taking a gap year are also welcome. The program offers state certification as a peer support specialist combined with Jubilee training in restorative justice, mindfulness, and ecological and ancestral healing.
POEM aims to train and support a generation of Black community healers to address the disparity in mental health that is causing BIPOC students to leave their education at a higher rate than other groups. POEM seeks to create communities healing, to change lives, and to change the world.
